5 In-Demand Microsoft Certifications That Will Boost Your Career

Microsoft provides an opportunity for IT professionals to validate their expertise through a variety of in-demand certifications. With so many choices available, many aspiring system engineers aren’t sure where to start. Throughout my career, I’ve had the pleasure of working with many MCSE level system engineers that fell into their careers because an opportunity was available. The most successful IT professionals can identify the Microsoft solutions their organizations need and are willing to train to fill those roles. They also choose Microsoft specializations that they’re going to enjoy. After all, nobody wants to take on a role they dislike. If you’re an aspiring system engineer that is willing to train for a better career, consider these five in-demand Microsoft certifications.

MCSA: Windows Server 2012

The most popular certification Microsoft offers for system engineers is the Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate in Server 2012. This certification is composed of the following three exams:

  • 70-411: Administering Windows Server 2012R2
  • 70-412: Configuring Advanced Windows Server 2012R2 Services

Students learn associate level content and develop skills needed to fill server administrator positions. Most importantly, this certification sets up opportunities to achieve additional Microsoft certifications. Earn the MCSA: Server 2012 certification and build the foundation of your career.

MCSA: SQL Server 2012

The MCSA: SQL Server 2012 is an associate level certification for IT professionals who will be working with an organization’s databases. This certification is composed of the following three exams:

  • 70-461: Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2012
  • 70-462: Administering Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Databases

MCSE: Server Infrastructure 2012

Another in-demand Microsoft certification, guaranteed to boost your career, is the Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert in Server Infrastructure 2012. Although Windows Server 2016 will soon be available, system engineers are still encouraged to certify in 2012 for two reasons. First, most organizations won’t switch over until the bugs are worked out of 2016. Second, Microsoft will be providing an upgrade path for those who certified on 2012. After you certify your MCSA in Widows Server 2012, take these two additional exams to achieve an MCSE in Server Infrastructure:

  • 70-413 Designing and Implementing a Server Infrastructure exam
  • 70-414 Microsoft Windows Server 2012R2: Implementing an Advanced Infrastructure

Students who achieve an MCSE in Server Infrastructure are highly regarded IT professionals that are capable of leading teams and managing large enterprise systems. Earn the MCSE: Server Infrastructure and meet the demands of a rewarding career.
