Cisco CIPT2 8.0: Call Control Discovery

Anyone wishing to obtain the Cisco Certified Network Professional CCNP Voice designation that validates the skills and knowledge required in order to create a voice solution that is transparent, scalable, and manageable.Established IT professionals with a good understanding of networking and Cisco technology, the basics of digital interfaces, PSTN, and VoIP, fundamental knowledge of converged voice and data networks, and the ability to configure Cisco IOS gateways with traditional and VoIP call legs.Candidates who have completed the Cisco Certified Network Associate Voice (CCNA Voice) Certification which is obtained by completing the Introducing Cisco Voice and Unified Communications Administration 640-461 (ICOMM) v8.0 exam. Candidates who have completed the Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Part 1 (CIPT1) v8.0 (642-447) exam.

With the increasing deployment of Cisco Unified Communications solutions, dial plans have become more complex to implement, especially in large enterprises that consist of numerous call control devices. Some examples of these call control devices are Cisco Unified Border Element, Cisco Unified Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST), Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express, and Cisco IOS gateways.
To simplify dial plan implementation in large deployments, it is desirable that call control devices dynamically exchange call-routing information so that no any-to-any static configuration is required. Cisco Service Advertisement Framework (SAF) allows services to be propagated through SAF-enabled network devices. Cisco Call Control Discovery (CCD) is the first application that utilizes SAF to advertise services: the reachability of internal directory numbers and Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) backup numbers.
This course explains how SAF works, describes its components, and shows how to configure it. The course also describes how CCD utilizes SAF to dynamically exchange call-routing information and how you can implement CCD in Cisco Unified Communications Manager and in Cisco IOS Software.
