Description
In a multisite Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) deployment, special requirements exist that are not necessary in single-site deployments. Deploying Cisco Unified Communications solutions among multiple sites requires an appropriate dial plan, adequate bandwidth between sites, implementation of quality of service (QoS), and a design that can survive IP WAN failures. To successfully deploy a multisite CUCM solution, you need to understand the issues and be aware of their possible solutions.
This course discusses the issues in a multisite CUCM deployment, including selective public switched telephone network (PSTN) access and tail-end hop-off (TEHO). Information on how to solve issues that arise in multisite deployments is also provided.

Objective

Identifying Issues in a Multisite Deployment

  • identify quality issues that can arise in multisite deployments
  • identify bandwidth issues that can occur in multisite deployments
  • identify availability issues that can occur in multisite deployments
  • describe dial plan considerations for multisite deployments
  • describe PSTN requirements that make it difficult to implement dial plans in international deployments
  • recognize the dial plan scalability issues that can occur in large deployments
  • Identifying Multisite Deployment Solutions

  • recognize how QoS solves quality issues in multisite deployments
  • describe methods for conserving bandwidth on IP WANs
  • describe how you can use multicast MOH from branch router flash to reduce the bandwidth required on the IP WAN
  • choose an appropriate alternative to multicast MOH from branch router flash
  • describe alternatives to Multicast MOH from branch router flash
  • describe the operation of survivability and availability features in multisite deployments
  • identify solutions for dial plan issues in multisite deployments
  • recognize the advantages of globalized call routing for international multisite deployments
  • recognize how a Cisco Unified Border Element can solve NAT and security solutions in multisite deployments
